In the second annual Kira Award for Best Higher Education Recruitment Video, we're honoring Oscar-worthy videos created by college and universities from the last year. After researching, collecting nominations, and reviewing dozens of great candidates, the team at Kira selected four nominations for the award.

BABSON COLLEGE: "THE ENTREPRENEURS"

Aiming to redefine what ‘entrepreneurship’ means, Babson College launched a massive multi-year, multi-channel campaign called "The Entrepreneurs" to showcase the unique paths their graduates have taken.

University of New Mexico: "Unexpected on Purpose"

Playfully acknowledging their lack of brand recognition, University of New Mexico leverages their ‘unexpected’ volume of accomplishments, high rankings, and student opportunities to create a compelling recruitment piece.

University of Phoenix: "Still I Rise"

University of Phoenix graduates never give up; they battle adversity, they work hard, they are determined, and they are proud. The video, one of several in University of Phoenix’s powerful "We Rise" video series, captures alumna Gail Marquis’s struggle and triumph beautifully, effectively, and concisely.

York University: "Open Your Mind"

To creatively articulate the University’s commitment to intellectual curiosity and experiential education, York University invites prospective students to ‘open their mind’ in a series of simple, yet captivating 15- and 30-second spots.

Nominees were evaluated in five categories:

  • Recruitment Effectiveness
  • Entertainment Value
  • Emotional Appeal
  • Campaign Success
  • Popular Votes from You

Viewers had until Oscars night (February 26) to submit their votes, and winners were announced on February 27.
